This Week’s calendar

·        Sunday Announcements  9:45am

·        Tuesday HOY meeting on failing students

Welcome Back to Happening this week. First of all, Thank you again to all for all your hard work. It has been an unusual year for all of us. Thank you for hanging in there with the kids and being flexible with the demands of teaching this year.

Things are getting busy as we also prepare to move all around the world. Our focus remains on helping students complete work and communicating with parents. This Tuesday the meeting time is dedicated to HOY to focus on failing students. Also, remember to allow the last week of the term to focus on students completing work and communicating with parents.  Below you will see information on morning announcements and the Weekly Family Update, along with some links to instructional support material, and finally a reminder of the class walkthroughs.

Morning Announcements. This Sundays Morning Announcement will remind students of

·        Keeping Cameras on

·        Dec 17 deadline for all work

·        Using teachers office hours

·        Using NEO with their family to track grades

Below is the Upcoming Morning Announcement for Dec 6

Check in at 9:45

Ongoing communication with parents. A Weekly Family Update similar to this blog is being posted with parents weekly. This week is the first post. The focus this week is communication.

·        How the school is communicating with students using the Sunday Morning Announcements

·        How parents can communicate with school using NEO to track grades, including instructions for NEO

·        How students can communicate with teachers using office hours

Support Material.

A section for resources will be added to this page. The explanation for our class walkthroughs says we will look for structure and use of digital instruction. We will be adding resources to help share ideas for this.

Thank you Ron for the links to support material and online learning games

 Classroom Visit Walk Troughs

The purpose of the walkthroughs is to provide support for instruction and learning.

These walkthroughs may only be about 10 minutes each, which also means we should have a chance to visit classes more often. We are sharing this with you so you understand what we are doing when you see us randomly drop in and out of classes unannounced. The visits will not necessarily be announced.

What we will be looking for evidence of things such as:

  • Class structure such as do now “Bell Ringers” for introduction or exit tickets for the conclusion, or any other transition methods
  • Use of digital instruction such as digital whiteboard or Kahoot, Education Perfect or other digital instruction tools
  • Evidence can be seen in real-time instruction or slide shows, Agenda, Neo, etc.

In conjunction with the visit, we will look at:

  • Grade book, including failing students or students with zeros to ensure parent contact. This is currently a high priority for us.
  • Neo, such as resources and welcome, lesson activities etc.
Notice ATLAS was taken off this list for now, it is not what our focus is on in the current environment.

Have a great upcoming week,

Be a Learner,  Be Responsible,  Be Respectful, Be Safe
