Happening This Week May 2-6

Be a Learner

Be Responsible

Be Respectful

Be Safe

Welcome back, and we hope you are looking forward to a well-earned break! Again, a big congratulations for making it this far in a very difficult year, and a big THANK YOU for all your work!

This post contains mostly reminders of information that is already out there to help guide us through to the end of the year. Below contains the end-of-year timeline, including the Report Card Timeline at the bottom, May 27-May 30.

Upcoming posts will contain information on failing students, completing Report Cards, and the 'one point away grades' (students should not get a 92, they should get a 93. If they are one point away from the next grade, they should get a 'covid bump')

This week we have the full school staff meeting Monday Afternoon.

1. End of Year Timeline

There are no cumulative exams at the end of the year. The regular school timetable and schedule will continue until May 27, the last day students are in school.

The following timeline of the final few weeks is to help you plan, organize, and manage the final few weeks.  Generally, we are aiming to complete the teaching of new material this week.

  • Aim to complete your Curriculum and Teaching by the week of May 2-6 (HS)
  • No New assignments/quizzes/tests/assessments after May 20. (MS and HS)
  • Reports are due May 27 on the last day students are in school. (All)
  • June 1 is the teacher’s last day.

May 2-6 (Aim to Finish Teaching HS)

  • Finish teaching and curriculum by May 6 if you plan to have a final in-class assessment next week

  • As in any week, assessments can be done, including final assessments for the quarter if the curriculum is complete

  • Contact any families of students who are failing with specific tasks to be done for them to be able to pass the class

May 9-13 (Holiday)

  • Eid holiday no school

May 16-20 (Last week for Assessments or assignments)

  • We are not requiring you do a final assessment this week. But wdo want to make sure they are all done by May 20 so there is time to follow up on students

  • Final in-class assessment/test/ quiz/assignments. Can be weighted as a regular assessment. Does not have to span the whole semester like a final exam. There are no cumulative final exams.

  • Use test calendar to avoid too many tests on one day

May 23-27 (No new assessments or assignments. Instead use the time for make-up work, communication with families)

  • May 23-26. Review the results of the final assessments and or final grades with students

  • End of year review/ student reflection/ preview of next year's curriculum

  • Communicate with families of students failing or needing work

  • Makeup tests and work.

  • May 26 aim to have all makeup work done

  • May 27 last day of school for students

Note item 7.  "Term 4. It is in your own best interest to meet curricular needs appropriately, but understanding that Everyone is Burned Out, students, parents, teachers, “Be cognizant of that, it is not the term you ramp it up, it is the term to ramp it down. We are exhausted and we want it as easy for you as possible for the rest of the year. " (Dr. Lori)
